The internet has changed almost everything, especially education. According to a recent survey, 1 in 4 college students were taking at least 1 online class. Online learning is much more economically and eco-friendly. Not only do students save money on gas and textbooks, they also pay less tuition. Bill Gates said a year ago in a conference in Lake Tahoe, CA that in 5 years anyone should be able to get the best lectures on earth on the web, thereby rendering colleges obsolete.

Bill Gates has even helped sponsor Khan Academy which offers “a free world-class education for anyone anywhere.” They have got over 2,100 videos online that range between simple algebra to the Vietnam War. The internet provides opportunities for any person able to invest time to learn. Financial resources are becoming less important whereas time and access to internet are all anyone would need to learn important and important information. Even though it might be a powerful and destructive force to society and the planet, the internet helps bring to pass great advancements in education and instruction. They have federal funding programs available for young students and minorities. One example is, they supply African American scholarships that can help them pay for their educational requirements.

Now more than ever, people are in the position to lift themselves out of poverty to become influential and important in their communities. In the past, people simply had to travel great distances to obtain a good education but now we only have to go to our family room for the greatest educational resources. Because of this, many businesses and institutions are pushing for computer and internet access to 3rd world countries. In no time, anyone may have the possibility to get properly educated for pennies on the dollar. Not too long ago, the only people that were able to get an education and go to college were the high-class families who not only had money but also power. Education has a bright future, as do those who will benefit from the changes that are going on. Education is evolving for the better and giving everyone equal options to learn and grow. Sadly, the opportunities that many people have in education aren’t being taken advantage of. Online classes really are the future of education, not only because they are environmentally and economically friendly but also because they give their students flexibility.
